ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!
With the Super Bowl just hours away, I’ve come up with what I consider to be a pretty cool video that combines these 3 things…
1) A spoof on how TOO many marketers video themselves while driving (a la Frank Kern).
2) My Super Bowl prediction.
3) How to have an “All Pro” affiliate program.
In my last video, I mentioned that I attended an All Pro Dads event with my son, and after doing so, I realized how much their “10 Ways To Be an All-Pro Dad” is similar to the attitude you should have towards your affiliates, so I thought with the Super Bowl approaching, this would be a fun, yet informative video to create.
I even introduce you to two of my sons, and you get the privilege of not only seeing one of them plaster the other with a snowball square in the face, but you get to watch me bite the dust.
NOTE: The “fun stuff” (spoof and Super Bowl prediction) occurs during the first half of the video, so if you just want to cut to the chase (all pro affiliate stuff), just skip ahead about halfway through, and you’ll be all set.
Please let me know what you think in the comment section, below.

Hey Andy! I’ve got a few thoughts on this video:
1) Really liked the down-to-earth, family emphasis. Showing your kids playing helped it stay light and fun.
2) In future videos, try to avoid repeating points you’re going to make. You said you were going to get to your Super Bowl prediction several times in the first 5 minutes… and then FINALLY we got to it.
3) Definitely understand and appreciate what you were trying to do in the first 5 minutes of the video, but it just took too long to get to the meat of the content. I don’t want to discourage you from trying new stuff (in fact, I applaud it), but I know it’s going to be tough for people with a passing interest in this stuff to sit through the first half of the video. Most will not have the patience to play it through. Editing means keeping your audience engaged the entire time, which is kinda hard to get the hang of when you’re first starting out. But you’ll get it as long as you keep at it. So… keep at it
Thanks for the feedback, Charlie. I appreciate it.
I added a “note” to the bottom of the post that lets people know that if they want to skip the “fun stuff”, they should jump ahead about halfway to take care of those who just want the goods. I’d actually planned on making a 2nd video with the truck stuff, but thought “what the heck”, and just left that extra minute of footage in it.
The cool thing about what I did is that I’m a newbie when it comes to making these types of videos, and I followed a very important principle, which is to “start where you are” and just take action. An imperfect video is much more effective – actually INFINITELY more effective – than a video or idea that never gets acted upon for fear of it not being “just right”.
I actually edited out a lot of takes, and even though I realized it took me a while to cut to the chase, I just wanted to put it out there and keep it “real” with people, and now I have a basis from which all future videos will be created.
Besides… it was a lot of FUN!
Andy,
I like what you’re doing here. Building character by being genuine and likeable is a great way to approach any audiance. May I make a suggestion or two? Thanks… As Charlie mentioned, it was a bit too long. I don’t know how much experience you have with copywriting, but if you are presenting yourself with your story…that is with wife, children, truck, home, favorite football team, etc. why not be more polished about using storytelling technique. Have an arc. In other words before you turn on the flip camera script a beginning that leads to and ties into the end, which means you also have to script the end. Just revealing who you are is good, but if you tie the intro to the end it all fits better. So, for example, the above video you might have opened with a little bit about your stroy in affiliate marketing and how you have gotten to where you are. That way when you start making providing success methods they relate to your success. It’s a type of proof that you’re the real thing. Dont’ get me wrong, I liked your video–these are just my off the cuff thoughts.

It’s only taking me 4+ months to reply to your comment… LOL. Great feedback… I appreciate it. Honestly, I just wanted to have fun and get a video out there, so I just winged it.
