Affiliate & JV Partner Conversion Strategy

by Andy

One of the most important ingredients to attracting new affiliates, or to become a JV partner for a product launch, is to have a page that is dedicated specifically to SELLING the benefits of joining your affiliate program (or product launch).

It’s not enough to just tell people in an email – especially a COLD email – all of the benefits of your program. You need to make sure that you have a page that gives them as much detail as possible about your affiliate program, so they can make a decision without having to ask a bunch of questions before making their decision.

In fact, you need to treat this page the same way you would if you were promoting a product of yours, focused upon one call to action, which in this case would be registering for your affiliate program.

Even if your product is fulfilled by companies such as Clickbank, PayDotCom, Commission Junction, and so forth… you should still have a page that adequately explains what’s in it for them as prospective affiliates/JV partners, and then give them instructions for how they can join the affiliate program.

Want to see an example? Here you go…

Get More Affiliates With This Type of Page

Some of the things you would want to consider covering on that page include…

* Headline that captures your visitor’s attention
* Video intro (keep it very brief)
* Description of the product
* Commission details (%, $ per sale, etc.)
* How they will be paid, and how often
* Conversion stats from previous launches
* Form for people to complete (or how to register if fulfilled by an affiliate network)
* Explanation of how the affiliates are “cookied”
* Prizes that may be offered
* Product launch dates/times
* Details of the launch, itself, if any

Obviously, what you choose to put on your page depends upon whether or not you’re having a product launch, or not, but one thing to keep in mind, as well, is that you can have one page specifically set up for your affiliate program, and one for your product launch.

In other words, if you have a product launch, and you decide to keep your product available to the public after the launch ends, you’ll want a page for potential affiliates to visit that is all about the affiliate program, WITHOUT any information about product launch dates and times, for example.

Also, once you have an affiliate sales page live on the Internet, you’ll eventually want to split-test that page vs. a slightly different version, keeping track of which one results in more affiliate signups… just like you would do for your own squeeze pages, sales pages, and so forth of your own products.

Finally, remember to include benefits within your affiliate sales page, possibly using bullet points, to give prospective affiliates even more motivation to join your affiliate program.

Bonus Tip: Do It For Them!Provide a way for prospective affiliates to contact you or your affiliate manager about having an affiliate account created FOR them. Many people will put off registering because they’re too busy (or too lazy), so offer to personally set them up on your end by giving them a way to send you their name and email address, only. You can then get them set up, and simply remind them to complete the rest of their account details when they have the time.

Great stuff! Thanks for the tips Andy.
